Specifics of installing a wooden roof

The service life of such a roof is directly affected by the quality of installation and the humidity of the material. According to ancient traditions, installation is usually carried out without bitumen and synthetics by fixing with a wide strip of nails. The air space for roof ventilation is created using sheathing installed parallel to the rafters. General features of installing wooden tiles are as follows:

• the slope of the roof slope for laying a roof made of larch or oak should be at least 45 degrees - so that moisture does not accumulate on the surface of the coating after rain and melting snow, when using shingles and shingles, the angle can be greater;
• when installing on wooden sheathing, the material should not come into contact with concrete elements of the structure, if necessary, waterproofing is necessarily laid;
• installation of a roof without metal involves overlapping each plate with an overlying part so that water flowing from above does not penetrate into the under-roof space.

Also, when laying the material, it should be taken into account that the finished wooden roof will not be stable. This means that during the rainy season it expands due to swelling of the elements, and in hot weather it shrinks in size. Such movements can be present for decades.
